Meet one of our corporate partners, Rachel from Sweet Pea Cookies!

HONOURING INDIVIDUAL UNIQUENESS: United by our foundational belief that everyone is created in the image of God, we celebrate each person’s unique skills, talents and interests, and encourage all to flourish in their life’s purpose.

Part of our value of “honouring individual uniqueness” is recognizing that people are so different and use their special talents and abilities to contribute uniquely to the Restorations community. This doesn’t just apply to the survivors we support or our team of staff and volunteers! We see evidence of people’s uniqueness in the ways supporters reach out to us and want to use their passions to partner with us!

A few years ago, we heard about a cookie company in Waterloo region who was making butterfly cookies with the proceeds of these cookies going to Restorations. Over the years, Rachel’s support has grown into a corporate partnership, and she donates 10% of her profits to Restorations!

We would love for you to meet Rachel!

Rachel, how did you hear about Restorations?

“I ran into a friend of mine who told me she was doing the Ride for Refuge with the funds going to Restorations.”

How much did you know about human trafficking/sexual exploitation prior to hearing about Restorations’ work?

“I was first introduced to the concept of human traficking when I watched the movie Taken a few years prior to hearing about Restorations, and it had a huge impact on me. Ever since seeing that movie I had been looking for a way to be a part of stopping human traficking and helping survivors.”

When you heard about Restorations, what moved you the most?

“It had been on my heart to be involved in anti-human trafficking for some years prior, and also for a way to use a portion of my profits from Sweet Pea Cookies for bettering the community. When I heard about this local need it just felt like a perfect fit.”

What are your hopes for Restorations’ future?

“I hope your services will eventually no longer be needed! But until that ideal is reached, the services you provide should be available for any person looking for it, no one should have to be turned away due to lack of funding or availability, and it should be available in every major city in the country.”

If you want yummy and beautiful cookies (with proceeds going to a good cause!), check out Sweet Pea Cookies and place your order.

If, like Rachel, you are moved by the work we are doing to come alongside survivors on their journey towards healing and restoration, would you consider becoming a monthly partner? Or, if you are a business, we’d love to chat with you about corporate support.
