Praying for peace to overcome anxiety and fear
Like many across the world, we at Restorations are listening carefully to the announcements and precautions taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time of uncertainty and anxiety, we pray for peace, good health, and wise leadership.
Here at Restorations, our staff will be primarily working from home while utilizing the same technological platforms we’ve relied on to do our work over the past few years. We remain committed to overseeing the renovation work being done at our home and continuing to do the work necessary to launch our residential program.
We are cognizant that this situation is most dire for those who are especially vulnerable and marginalized. Those engaged in the commercial sex trade will be especially vulnerable during these uncertain times, not just from a health perspective, but the fact that income will be precarious. This could have a great impact on vulnerable peoples’ living conditions, housing, food, and access to other basic necessities of life.
With increased cancelation of social activities, school, and community groups, we know that this season of quarantine could lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and fear. We are committed to reaching out to the survivors we know to see how we can encourage them during this time.
Last night, I led devotions for a church meeting. I utilized an email recently sent by author Sarah Bessey in which she talks about anxious times and “breath prayers.” You can read more about the practice of breath prayers in her email, but during these times I am breathing through Restorations’ cornerstone verse (Jeremiah 30:17).
Inhale. Fill your whole self with breath. Feel air in your lungs. And then say:
“'‘But I will restore you to health
Exhale slowly and fully and say:
and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD.”
Friends, be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32). Blessings and peace to you all.
